Week 24

PTO made another stop on the T100 Tour; this time, in San Francisco. With iconic sh*tty SF weather (overcast, drizzle, cold & windy), it made for tough conditions for not just the pro athletes, but also the age group athletes participating in Escape Alcatraz Tri.

This was one of the more dramatic T100 races we’ve seen thus far; DQs for failure to adhere to the mount/dismount line, nearly a photo finish for Top 3 spots on the men’s side and a slew of surprising DNS & DNFs. Watch the highlights above.

Sign up for a virtual race today! True North Challenges hosts virtual endurance events that keep you motivated year-round; summer is coming up & that means so are 2 patriotic holidays: Canada Day & Fourth of July!

Tidbits

TV Show Launch: Ultimate Mountain Athlete is Outside Inc.’s new TV show that features “the most well-rounded male and female outdoor athletes across multiple challenges and races. The intent is to test and showcase the physical skills and mental fortitude needed to ski, bike and climb in challenging backcountry locations—all to see who is crowned the Ultimate Mountain Athlete.”

Para Power: Para athletes are badass; we’ve been humbled many a time by the strength and resilience of para athletes out on the course. It’s incredibly inspiring to watch, and even cooler when they can hold their own against able-bodied athletes. Meg Fisher is a para athletes that dominates ANY field she competes in, and is also an advocate for making endurance athletics more accessible for para athletes.

Gravel Maps: If you’re into road/gravel road cycling, you know it’s tough to find suitable bike routes in a new area. Either you’re a road cyclist and you meet an unexpected gravel road (then what do you do…turn back or #fullsend?), or you’re a gravel rider that ends up riding 90% pavement because you can’t find a gravel road to save your life. This new website, built by a fellow gravel rider, attempts to solve that problem by reporting road surface type. Pretty rad.

Race Tats: If you’re an endurance athlete…you either have or have seen about 1000 M Dot tattoos (bonus for the back of left calf muscle). This Half Marathon tat is cringeworthy. Yikes.

Performance Of The Week(end): Sydney Mclaughlin-Levrone…she’s focusing on the 200M & still dominates in the 400M. What can’t she do??
