Week 29
Break dancing isnât realllly an endurance sport, but itâs the latest addition to the Summer Olympics line-up. These athletes are seriously talented and deserve some recognition for being a part of the ground-breaking (kind of literally) new Olympic sport. Jury is still out on cheerleading as a sportâŚbut for now, weâre sold on break dancing. Go Team USA.
In this weekâs email:
LCB Merch: Lucy Charles-Barclay is pedaling some pretty sick merch for the upcoming T100 race - check it out.
Prime Day Deals: Your gear locker can always use an addition⌠especially when itâs on sale, YAY.
Bikejacked: All those overnights pre-event might get you worried about the security of your bikeâŚand rightfully so. Recently, more than $30,000 in bikes were stolen from a cycling festival.
Slow AF Run Club: Run clubs SHOULD be all-inclusive and foster an environment of support. However, since run clubs are on the rise of popularity, there are some clubs that arenât nearly as supportive. The Slow AF Run Club is a virtual community that encourages, supports and unites runners of all walks of life - a great option if youâre looking for your runner tribe.
New Coke Flavors: Even Coca-Cola is getting on the limited edition Olympic bandwagon with these new flavors.
đWatch a Cadence-recommended Vid: Ozempic has finally reached âendurance mainstream.â Most endurance athletes are already built like sticks and donât need the help of the drug that is taking America by stormâŚbut if a runner was to take it, what would be their experience?

Tidbits
IM Rules for DQs: Sam Laidlow, 2023 IM World Champ, was DQed from IRONMAN Vitoria-Gasteiz for failing to serve a drafting penalty. The bigger drama isnât that he was DQed, but if he would have to complete ANOTHER full distance IM before World Championships to validate his slot, especially so close to October. Just a day later - IM ruled that Laidlowâs finish would count towards his validation, per IM rules, but that his DQ would stand.
â Words of Inspo: ShaâCarri Richardson had a controversial rise to track & field fame during the last Olympic Trial - she qualified in the 100 M - winning the Finals. However, because she tested positive for a banned substance (marijuana), she was suspended from participating. She then spent the next 4 years becoming an absolute FOCUSED Queen both on & off the track.
â Potty Time: Runners are notorious for having to go #1 or #2 at the WORST times in the WORST locations. If youâve been to a Marathon Major, you know that nothing is off-limits; neighborhood yards, behind dumpsters, even right out in the open if theyâre desperate enough. This insta account wasnât made for runnersâŚbut it should be on your radar if you ever find yourself on a run in NYC.
â Rock On: Travis Barker isnât your average runner; just look at his outfit below. Nary a Lululemon split short in sight. Most touring artists have some sort of workout regimen to stay in shape to play long hours on stage; but not all of them have a custom treadmill/drum set up like Barker does.
â Cyclist Murderer Saga: Kaitlin Armstrong, in cold blood, murdered prominent professional gravel cyclist, Mo Wilson, at the height of her career- all over a jealousy and a guy. She was found guilty last year of murder, and was recently hit with a civil wrongful death suit. Now, sheâs being sued AGAIN for fraudulently transferring assets out of her name to avoid paying $15 million to the Wilson Family.
