week4
Season 28 of The Bachelor just kicked off last night. The newest Bachelor lead, Joey, is a tennis pro. Not exactly an endurance athlete, but weâll count it. Joey Graziadeiâs group of ladies has us looking back on past Bachelor Nation classes for the endurance athletes of the bunch. So far, none of the women on Joeyâs season have revealed if theyâre an endurance athlete; NFL cheerleading doesnât exactly count (as a sport or a profession, TBH). Itâs only Week 1 - so thereâs still time for us to pick out our favorite contestants for this season. If youâre a Bachelor Nation superfan like we are - youâd know that thereâs more than just a few former contestants & leads that have competed in endurance sports - namely, marathons. Take a look at all the past contestants that have rocked out the NYC Marathon.
Highlights of the Week:
USAT Membership Fail: $400 annual membership gone wrong. USAT tries to close their (own) budget gaps at the hands of triathletes.
Red Bullâs Ultimate Playlist: This playlist is inspired by the epic videos that Red Bull posts - making for a hell of an epic ride/run for you.
Waterproof Headphones: Staring at the black line at the bottom of the pool gets almost as old as doing flip turns every 20 yards. Level up with these waterproof headphones and jam out in the pool.
Beat Flu SZN: Liquid IV is a requirement for any busy parent, age group athlete, or the weekend warrior that toes the line between violent hang over on Saturday AM or running a local 5K.
đWatch a Cadence-recommended Vid: Jason West finished 3rd in the World Rankings for Triathlon (per PTO) in 2023. Heâs the new Golden Boy of Tri, and has big plans for 2024. Watch the video to get a glimpse into his life.
Reddit Post of the Week
DIY bicycle hardware is really not the move. Imagine youâre riding down a pothole-filled road & this DIY engineering job FAILS.

Tidbits
The Unofficially Worst Seasons to Run In: Running outside can be a wild adventure, and certainly never a dull moment. Between running away from moose (meece?) families in the spring, bundling up for Polar Vortexes or evading red winged blackbirds - thereâs always something. Running is a hazardous sport, no doubt.
â Smokinâ Runner: Chain smoking & marathoning are two things that donât really go hand in hand. Uncle Chen, resident chain smoker-marathoner (in that order?), crossed the line in 3:33 for 26.2 at the Xiamen Marathon, had a short-lived victory lap when he was DQed for smoking on-course.
â Wahoo Kickr RUN Treadmill: For most of us, the treadmill is a slog where 1 minute feels like 10 and youâre never running as fast as you think you are. If youâre a cyclist, you know the brand Wahoo. Theyâre close to releasing what could be the newest addition to your pain cave - the RUN Treadmill. Dare we say it beats out the Peloton Treadmill?
â Musician Olympian (Contender): Playing the cello is very high brow. Most professional cellists arenât also doubling as a professional runner; with the exception of Aaron Gruen. Gruen not only qualified for the Olympic Trials in his 5th EVER marathon, but also practices the cello 3-5 hours a day. In his recent AZ training camp, he even bought a window seat for his best bud - the cello.
â Stop Saying Running Killed your Knees: âRunnerâs Kneesâ are not a thing - and where that myth continues to be perpetuated is beyond us. There have been several studies, including from the the storied Harvard, that not only debunk those myths, but have discovered that running improves arthritic conditions.
đBucket List Recs
Big training week behind ya and want to add something to your bucket list? Need something to kick your butt into high gear? Check out our endurance bucket list recs below and sign up for something youâll probably regret when youâre doing a 20 mile training run in August in the Midwest.
Kayak in Greenland: Kayak up (on?) a fjord, past icebergs and have the mountains as your backdrop for 15 days on this once-in-a-lifetime trip through Greenland.
Madagascar Diving/Snorkeling: Live out your dreams of Finding Nemo. Madagascar is one of the only places on Earth where you will find clownfish in their natural habitat.
Cycling Morocco: Morocco is an incredibly beautiful, and relatively untraveled country. Experience the true offroad and backcountry with a MTB tour through the countryside of Morocco.
Eiffel Tower: Run up all 1,662 steps of the Eiffel Tower. This race took a hiatus in 2022, and weâre unsure if it took place in 2023, but if this race is back in 2024 - this is certainly a bucket list event.
Performance Of The Week(end): Weini Kelati
Another win in Kelatiâs logbook. Fresh off an American Record on the road, she sailed to her first XC title.
